Our Story

Heath and I met shortly after he returned home from serving in Albania for his two year LDS church mission. A mutual friend invited both of us to their weekly bowling get together. Heath was fresh off his mission (and timid of girls) and I was writing a missionary (and not really interested in dating). One day Heath asked if I would like to go shopping to help him find some after mission clothes. I said yes, and we ended up having a great time. We continued to go to the weekly bowling nights, but also starting hanging out on our own. Our friendship soon grew into a relationship and we became inseparable. During our pre-marriage dating we enjoyed visiting local parks. Our first kiss was at a park! So one Sunday Heath took us for a drive and I wasn't surprised that we ended up at a park. Heath will probably tell you that he had me completely fooled, but I had my hunches :). As we walked through the park we ended up at a dirt hiking path. The path was lit by beautiful hanging candles and there were rose pedals leading to a picnic blanket with dessert and sparkling cider. We sat down to enjoy the treats and then Heath stood up. He kneeled on one knee, took my hand, and asked me to be his wife. I, of course, said Yes!

4 short months later we were married in the Dallas LDS Temple on November 25, 2005. It was a beautiful day and we were lucky to spend it with so many friends and family. Shortly after we were married we were at my parent's house and decided to watch old family videos of me. We were watching my kindergarten graduation and got to the part where my dad videotapes this little boy for like 10 minutes. We had always teased him about this and were in the process of doing it again when Heath exclaimed "Hey, that's me!." We all turned our heads and were like "Wha?". It indeed was him. My dad had videotaped my future husband! Fate? I think so! Later on his mom was going through his old keepsakes. She came across his 1st grade writing tablet and found that I had written a story in it. We were in the same 1st grade class too! Meant to be? Again, I think so! We had so many connections, but never met until we were 21.

We have been happily married for 7 years. 5 years ago we found out we would have a hard time conceiving without medical help. After we exhausted some of the less invasive medical routes, and after much prayer, we came to know that adoption was meant for us. We truly feel that the Lord has blessed us with infertility because we were meant to build our family in a different way. Just like our meeting and marriage- adoption was meant to be for us!
